Still Becoming
Participant Information
Thank you for your interest in participating in Still Becoming — a portrait and storytelling project exploring the evolving experience of women 40+.
This project was created to document the honest, complex, and deeply human realities of midlife through portraiture and conversation. Themes may include identity, change, reinvention, aging, resilience, motherhood, loss, self-discovery, transition, and becoming.

About the Session
Sessions are relaxed, documentary-style, and centered around natural conversation and portraiture. This is not a traditional photoshoot focused on posing or perfection. The goal is simply to create space for authenticity and connection.
Sessions will take place in your own environment whenever possible (your home, outdoor space, or another location meaningful or comfortable to you). Photographing within your environment helps create portraits that feel personal, grounded, and reflective of real life.
Each session will include:
• Conversation/interview style discussion
• Natural portraits throughout the session
• Optional voice/audio recording for storytelling purposes
• A relaxed and collaborative atmosphere
There is no cost to participate.
Participants will receive up to 3 edited digital portraits from the session for personal use. RAW/unedited files are not included.
Session Length
Sessions typically last approximately 60–90 minutes, allowing time for conversation, comfort, and natural portrait creation without feeling rushed.
What to Expect
You do not need any modeling experience or preparation. The intention is not to perform or present a polished version of yourself, but simply to show up as you are.
You are welcome to wear clothing that feels comfortable and authentic to you. Neutral tones and minimal patterns tend to photograph best, but the most important thing is that you feel like yourself.
There are no “right” answers during the conversation. The process is reflective, relaxed, and guided gently through open-ended questions.
Sample Questions
Some examples of questions you may be asked include:
• What has surprised you most about this stage of life?
• Do you feel different from who you thought you would become?
• What have you had to let go of over the years?
• What parts of yourself are you rediscovering?
• What does becoming mean to you now?
• What do you wish more people understood about women in midlife?
Participation & Use of Images
Participants will be asked to sign a release form allowing portraits, quotes, and optional audio recordings to be used as part of the Still Becoming project, including potential future use on social media, website, exhibitions, and printed publications.
Thank you for considering being part of this project and helping create space for honest stories and meaningful connection.
